Painting is Almost Done

They worked really hard yesterday and are trying to get finished with the painting today. They will come back to do touch-up and put polyurethane on the stair treads after the floors are in and everything else is done.

This picture really shows the three colors of paint in the kitchen.

master bathroom

The paint in the laundry and mudroom is called Frosty Grass and is seen in the next few pics.

The guest bath is painted Rain (blue)

All of the other downstairs rooms (office, master, entry, dining, living) are painted gray (On the Rocks).

The game room has been sealed and lacquered but still waiting on the trim paint.

My sewing room is the same blue as the guest bath (Rain).

taken from a different angle

The bunk room is Basket Beige (picked out by the grandkids) with Red Barn trim (picked out by Aaron). Actually the grandkids picked out red too and Aaron narrowed it down to this one.

This is the attic door where we added the Craftsman trim.

They only got one coat of gel stain on the front door so will probably have to do a second coat on that later as well. It takes a while to dry.

This picture really shows the contrast between the ceiling and wall colors. Some areas look exactly the same depending on the light.

In case you've forgotten what the outside of the house looks like...

Making a trip to the dump to get rid of lots of painting and other trash.

I'm looking forward to our Christmas gathering tomorrow and celebrating my dad's 85th birthday. Aaron and I are going back to Lubbock with him for a couple of days so will get back to the blog late next week.

Stain and Paint Getting Close

When I said gallons and gallons of paint, I had no idea how MANY gallons!!! 27 gallons of primer, 5 gallons of stain, 15 gallons of sanding sealer 17 gallons of lacquer and 57 gallons of paint later; here we are.

nailing up the last piece of trim in the game room

shiplap is all ready for sealer and lacquer!

staining has begun

master bath stain is complete and covered - awaiting paint on walls and ceiling

the door to the attic didn't come in Craftsman style so we added the trim ourselves

cabinets primed and ready for paint

sliders primed

...and painted

laundry room cabinets in deep gray (called Rugged Suede)

more laundry room cabinets

mud room cubbies and cabinets (same color as laundry - this is a better picture of the color)

pantry without sliders (gray green - called Svelte Sage)

you can see two of the paint colors here - gray green (Svelte Sage) on the lower cabinets and gray blue (called Blue Mountaintop) on the island

hanging the doors back up in the mud room

I was so worried about the stain and paint colors, especially the stain because once it is on, there's not much you can do about it. I love, love, love it all! Yea!!!!

They are spraying the last of the cabinets now and prepping for wall paint. I just ran back over to confirm the colors for some of the walls and they have painted the ceilings and started on the exterior doors.

I was going to show you the color of my sewing room cabinets but they are all covered up. They just look white anyway. It's called Snowfall and has a tinge of gray but you would never know it.

The upper cabinets are very light gray (called On The Rocks). The picture doesn't really show the color very well.

The first coat of paint on the door (called Shade-Grown). It's a dark gray green and will show up better with the second coat.

Unfortunately, they are not going to be finished this week as they said. Surprise! Surprise! The plan was to set up tables in the house for our big family Christmas on Saturday the 3rd, but that isn't going to happen. Oh well, the place doesn't matter, just being together with all the family is all that's important! Too bad they are forecasting highs in the 40's and rain. Brrrrr!
