Sheetrock Goes Up

I'm posting this from my phone so hopefully everything loads okay. The reason for this dilemma is the guy operating the backhoe digging the ditch for the power line from the power pole to the house hit the internet cable and cut it. Soooo, we are without internet until next week.

Unfortunately, I am not able to upload the pictures without Internet. The repair tech will be out today so will post again tomorrow.

Exterior Complete

All the rain filled the creek behind our property and created a nice little waterfall.

lots of wildflowers in our field

and water flowing over the road, notice the armadillo in the center of the picture

Poppy took a break to play Skipbo with a couple of the gkids. Three of them (Saige, Penelope & Sawyer) stayed here last week to go with me to Vacation Bible School. They had a great time!

After a delay of about 10 days, the stone mason returned to clean the finished stone.

With the exception of the doors, the exterior is complete. As soon as the Sheetrock is up, we will have the doors installed. The following pics are of the spray-in and bat insulation.

We're using spray-in insulation for all the exterior walls and roof for "total encapsulation". This is the upstairs game room. I can't believe the difference in the temperature up here since insulating. It was like a sauna before and now is actually bearable even with temps in the upper 90's.

The Sheetrock should be delivered tomorrow and installed over the next few days. The cabinet maker was supposed to come out last week but had to cancel and we haven't heard from him since. Hopefully, he will be out soon and get started on the cabinets since it will take several weeks to build and install them.

The Stone Work Begins

Well, it's been a 9 day dry spell for work on the house due to a wet spell of weather, but finally, we are back at it full speed ahead! The Stone Masons showed up bright and early (early anyway), at 6:15 a.m. Monday morning. By 10:00 a.m. (their first break) they had completed the back wall, started the fireplace and had the side wall well underway.

hard to tell from the pics but we had 11 trucks in the drive today, between HVAC and stone masons

wonder where they would all park if we lived in the city???

...and the cross is now up!

It's amazing how much they've gotten done in just two and a half days!

The end of the post today has nothing to do with the house but is instead about family. While I was in Lubbock, I got to meet my newest grand-niece, Sadie Harrington, daughter of Daniel and Janae.
