A Few More Pics

In my last post, I failed to include this picture of the chef cooking burgers for the amazing guys who helped us move.

We spent the first night in our new house Wednesday, March 29th, and celebrated with a glass (or two) of champagne.

I'm slowly getting through all the boxes and have 4 boxes of donation items so far. I have 8 or 9 more boxes to unpack downstairs before I start on the upstairs. I need my organizer (Saige) to come help me organize my sewing/craft room.

Can you believe all of this to wrap one tea cup - bubble wrap, 3 full sheets of paper AND fabric?

My grandmother's china. It's about 80 years old and doesn't have a single chip or crack. Then again, I don't think she ever used it...

This is the cabinet specifically built to hold the china with seedy glass inserts. I picked up all the cabinet glass yesterday and Kim installed 18 pieces before supper. Only 9 more to go.

This is the bubble wrap and paper from one box of china!!! No wonder it's taking me so long to unpack!

A dear friend (Erica) that I made while working in the New York office, gave me this set as a retirement gift. We would often walk to a restaurant for lunch, trying different things, but mostly going to a particular Thai or Noodle shop. She's half Japanese, so this is a gift from her heritage as well as a lovely reminder of the many times we shared lunch.

I bought this rug last year and never even opened it up until I rolled it out in the kitchen last week. I had completely forgotten what it looked like and was thrilled with the real thing. It's almost an inch thick, 100% wool and feels amazing under my feet. I would love to have a big one for the living room but would have to save my pennies for a long, long time.

Kim got our shower door installed. It's a massive door and Aaron had to help carry it in.

Penelope, Gene and Bailyn stayed the weekend with us. Penelope and I decided to bake some peanut butter cookies right before she left on Sunday. I should have taken pics of Penelope and Bailyn watching movies and eating popcorn up in the game room. They had quite a time playing up there.

This is the gray and white opalescent glass in the kitchen cabinets.

More of the opalescent glass.

The living room and murphy bed have the antique looking seedy glass. You can see I've started to put a few things out. Terry and Elaine gave us this housewarming gift, a beautiful piece of coral that sits on a lighted stand.

Grady picked out a pink petunia potted plant (say that five times 🌝) as a housewarming gift for me. He was hilarious carrying it since it is almost as big as he is. Aaron gave Kim got a bottle of Blue Label Scotch.

Well, it's back to the boxes.

  1. It looks beautiful! Can't wait to see it in person. Alaina was super bummed she didn't get to come hang out with Penelope and Bailyn in "Meme's new house".
