Long Time Coming

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated the blog. There's only been one contractor since my last post and he started the countertops but then decided to wait until the floors are in so we can move the island to lay the floor. It would be too difficult to move with the countertop installed. There were numerous problems with the countertops and he had to take them back to the shop to rework them anyway.

The delay is due to the flooring contractor's mom being really sick. He has been taking her back and forth to Houston. Please pray for her and the family as they try to understand and treat her illness. He plans to start laying the floors on Monday 18th.

Even though we've had no subs, the general contractor (Kim) has continued to be diligent in working on the house. He's been doing lots of wiring, lights, and working on the upstairs bathroom.

Cathie is working away on her vacation.

Not my better side...

We finally got the plastic off the balusters so you can now see the pattern.

The hole for the island sink was not straight.

If you ignore the plastic label, you can sort of see the countertop.

Linoleum flooring in the kids bath upstairs

Kim and I have been working on the upstairs bath this week. I painted the upper walls a light gray (On the Rocks).

Kim put up shiplap on the lower walls.

I painted the shiplap with Shutter Gray milk paint.

Then I used an antiquing glaze over the milk paint.

Kim got the trim put up today

He also installed eight of these lights and outlets (one for each of the bunk beds).

And the stained glass windows at the top of the stairs are now secured in place. Aren't they awesome?

I worked on the vanity for the upstairs bath today. I'll try to post pics of it tomorrow when I finish glazing the door fronts and drawers. No promises...
